The Group Effect

Are you training to see improvements? Do you often repeat the same workout and maybe lack inspiration when it comes to training? Would you find it useful to train in a group rather than relying on your mate to turn up or training on your own?

Well there is a solution.

Small Group Training (SGT)

Small Group Training in a variety of different formats and names is now the biggest growing trend in fitness and looks to continue to grow in popularity. 

First off group training not only adds motivation and competition with one another, but drives you to further increase your performance than what you would achieve by yourself (Hodges and Carron., 1992). Group training offers the element of support and camaraderie that drags you out of bed early morning to come to the gym.

For us at Elite Fitness we believe that Small Group Training (SGT) is one of the most important developments to happen here. It gives our members the chance to try different types of training with the encouragement of our trainers. We want people to achieve more in the time they have available to train and SGT does just that. 

We have trained 100’s of Every Day Athletes and we have yet to meet one who hasn’t in some way benefited from our approach to training. Some enjoy the banter, others enjoy being pushed but all agree that Small group training has significantly enhanced their gym experience.  Here’s just one of the quotes we recently received:

What makes our Small Group Training Unique?

  • 120 members are in our training group which means we can focus on you. 
  • Training follows monthly themes so you never get bored as the training varies its focus  each month
  • We monitor your fitness and tailor training to you although there is a monthly focus through careful fitness testing and movement screening we give you the training your body needs to get results.

How is SGT delivered?

Work out of the day (WOD) is constantly varied training which is prescribed daily by our experienced coaches with the aim of giving people the chance to try different types of training (such as resistance, metabolic conditioning and interval training) within a well structure program. 

KickStart is a great class to start with if you are new to exercise or are nervous on the gym floor.  Its a group that literally gives you a kickstart supporting you on the gym floor, giving nutrition advice and getting you in to the groove of training whether you have been out through injury, pregnancy or just life has got in the way - Kickstart does exactly what it says on the tin.

GI Jane is where you graduate to after KickStart!  Once you have a base of fitness and have nailed some basic exercises you can get to working that little bit harder!!

SGT Fundamentals works on a the Fundamentals of exercises for the next few months Olympic Lifting will be the subject and will be taken by Jamie who is a coach with the British Weightlifting Association - a great opportunity to nail techniques and learn new ones.

As mentioned earlier we have monthly aim and goals such as 5km run, %Body fat, Functional Movement Screen ( FMS ) and much more to achieve an all round athlete. - We want you to Move Better and Perform Better.

The WOD is a continuous class that you can drop in and out of and it is a scaled work out so any level can join :)  KickStart, GI Jane and Fundamentals run on a 6-week courses basis so you have a defined beginning and end to your training in order to keep you focused and pushing for your goals.

Before you commit to a monthly unlimited membership (£50 a month) you could  “try before you buy”, Or use  credits to give your training a boost.
